Time to head off to Boulevard de la Croisette\u00a0for La Radio du Cin\u00e9ma<\/strong>! This year, Patrice Caillet & his team will cover the 70th edition of the International Film Festival in\u00a0Cannes. For the occasion, RadioKing wanted to dig a little deeper to find\u00a0out more about\u00a0this unique radio station and its origins.<\/p>\n

Can you describe your project and the idea behind \u00ab\u00a0La Radio du Cin\u00e9ma\u00a0\u00bb in a couple of words?<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Patrice:<\/em> I’ve been a radio host since I was 16 and for nearly 30 years on Radio France<\/a><\/strong>, where I’m also a programmer. My interest for online radio stations started during\u00a0the summer of 2012, I dreamt of quickly creating my own radio station and for free. So I launched \u00ab\u00a0Pointures<\/strong>\u00a0\u00bb with the files available in my hard drives: music and quotations from films… Today the radio station has moved up to the next level, it’s taken\u00a05 years to achieve\u00a0this professional result!<\/p>\n

What is your relationship with the Cannes Film Festival? <\/strong><\/h3>\n

Prior to this, did you have any experience in the radio world?<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Patrice:<\/em> I knew the adventure of free radio stations in the 80s. I then\u00a0abandoned my history studies\u00a0(I wanted to be an archaeologist)<\/em> in favor of\u00a0signing my first contract as a radio host, I was then recruited by\u00a0Radio France<\/strong> when I was 21.<\/p>\n

How did you hear about RadioKing?<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Patrice:<\/em> I knew RadioKing<\/a><\/strong> right from the start but at that time, \u00ab\u00a0La Radio du Cin\u00e9ma<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0\u00bb was still a mere hobby on the side. Today, I’ve created a company to\u00a0manage the radio station. We are 7 collaborators working on\u00a0Cannes 2017 and the professional projects are numerous, hence my choice of\u00a0your platform, without hesitation.<\/p>\n

In your opinion, what are the essential features\/services that RadioKing offers?<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Patrice:<\/em>\u00a0Those interested should know that\u00a0I have often dealt with the\u00a0technical team since the launch of my radio and they are very responsive! The creation of\u00a0programs is very intuitive and given our concept, I need a malleable tool to create\u00a0the radio station that I want. Moreover, I just launched the new version of our Radio Website<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0with RadioKing. Thanks to the CMS<\/a><\/strong> proposed, I finally have\u00a0a real radio website compatible with mobile & tablet<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

What are the different ways to listen to \u00ab\u00a0La Radio du Cin\u00e9ma\u00a0\u00bb?<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Patrice:<\/em> On the website<\/strong><\/a> but I’m also thinking of creating a mobile app<\/strong><\/a> quite soon. The stream is also referenced on several\u00a0platforms and directories (Freebox, Orange Radio & TV<\/strong><\/a> etc.)<\/em> but also on our Facebook page<\/strong><\/a> with\u00a0the Player<\/a> <\/strong>proposed in the\u00a0Radio Manager and the RadioKing app.<\/p>\n

Can you tell us about your audience profile?<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Patrice:\u00a0<\/em>Cinema can attract \u00ab\u00a0demanding\u00a0\u00bb<\/em> clientele and many enthusiasts. I make sure to offer music and film clips of all ages, all styles with a good mix. A short 20 second extract of La Grande Vadrouille<\/em> won’t\u00a0scare\u00a0Techin\u00e9 fans and vice versa… The happiness is realizing that the radio station is being listened to at all hours of the day across all continents. Shops and cinemas also broadcast our radio station.<\/p>\n

What do you value most about this project?<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Patrice:<\/em> Everything needed doing, the radio station started\u00a0from scratch. Previously, no other station had proposed this concept, we have grown. RadioKing is a new step and I really appreciated the involvement of the RadioKing team for this new start because we had to quickly adapt to this new tool. Cannes 2017 will serve as a launching pad<\/strong> and it is exciting to see the enthusiasm that our project has provoked.<\/p>\n

How do you select the songs on your radio station?<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Patrice: <\/em>I think I have a real Soundtrack culture. I have been listening to film music for a long time and I make sure that they are not excluded when I integrate them into my media library: neither too long nor too \u00ab\u00a0specific\u00a0\u00bb. I make sure that by listening to us for quarter of an hour, the listener can recognize at least one piece of music or film excerpt.<\/p>\n
